He will be a good signing for a team like West Brom
maybe just on the bench but a good player to bring to unlock a tight defence

Yes, he would be useful to have in the squad but at what cost? He must have been one of the highest earners. Looked at in terms of return on investment, it made sense to let him go, unless he would have taken a big pay cut.
